Marc Ortà Esteban enters his first season as a Set Piece Specialist with the New England Revolution. Hired in February 2025 after two seasons with Brentford FC of the English Premier League, Ortà Esteban joins the Revolution’s growing analytics team after six years coaching and advising in Europe with Brentford FC, FC Midtjylland, FC Barcelona, and E.F. Gavà .
Ortà Esteban, 25, most recently served as a Set Piece Analyst for Brentford FC in the English topflight from 2023 until his arrival in New England. His responsibilities included pre-, live, and post-match analysis of the club’s set pieces, as well as assisting the coaching staff during individual and full-team training sessions. During his first season with Brentford, The Bees ranked third in the English Premier League with 16 set-piece goals. Before his time in England, Ortà Esteban spent the 2022-23 season as a Set Piece Analyst for Danish side FC Midtjylland.
The Catalonia native began his coaching career with FC Barcelona, joining the legendary club in 2019 as an Assistant Academy Coach, working with Barcelona’s American-based academy program and coaching camps and clinics in Chicago. Following a successful stint working in the youth ranks, Ortà Esteban was hired by FC Barcelona as an intern, working with first-team performance staff for the 2019-20 campaign. Reporting to the team’s Director of Analytics, he helped with the preparation and review of pre- and post-match set-piece reports, as well as opposition analysis and statistical maintenance. He also served as an Assistant Coach for E.F. Gavà in his home region, working with the club’s Under-19 squad during the 2019-20 season.
During a two-year hiatus from coaching from 2020-22, Ortà Esteban worked as a Research Analyst for Sports Analytics firm Paradine. In his role, Ortà Esteban oversaw the production of previews for every game assigned, including expected line-ups, tactical set up, and tactical approach. Along with maintaining statistical databases used to rate players, Ortà Esteban also managed data collection for assigned games, with special focus on company specific KPIs.
