FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Revolution defenders Antonio Delamea and Je-Vaughn Watson have been called in to their respective national teams and will miss the Revolution's match vs. Orlando City SC on Sept. 2. Delamea joins Slovenia for a pair of World Cup Qualifiers, while Watson will meet Jamaica for its friendly in Toronto against Canada on Sept. 2.
Delamea, 26, will be available for Slovenia’s World Cup Qualifiers Round One matches at Slovakia on Friday, Sept. 1 and vs. Lithuania on Monday, Sept. 4. The Celje native owns two career caps with Slovenia, including a 90-minute, clean sheet performance in a World Cup Qualifier vs. Malta on June 10, 2017. Delamea, the first Slovenian to compete in Major League Soccer, leads all Revolution players in minutes played in his debut season with the club.
Slovenia currently sits in third place in Group F with 11 points through six matches. England leads the group with 14 points through six contests, while Slovakia ranks second with 12 points. After Round 1, the nine group winners will advance to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, while the eight best runners-up will advance to Round Two of World Cup Qualifiers.
Watson has been called in for Jamaica's upcoming international friendly against Canada at BMO Field in Toronto on Saturday, Sept. 2. He is scheduled to join the national team on Thursday, Aug. 31 and return to the Revolution on Sunday, Sept. 3. The seven-year MLS veteran has been a key figure in Jamaican football in recent years, as he helped lead the nation to consecutive second-place finishes in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. This year, he scored the Reggae Boyz' lone goal in the 2017 Gold Cup title match against the United States. Watson, 33, owns 70 caps and four goals in his senior international career.
