FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution’s annual Bowl for a Goal continues to be one of the most anticipated nights of the year. In partnership with Arbella Insurance and Special Olympics Massachusetts, the evening is a chance for players, fans, and the community to come together off the pitch for a cause held dear to the entire Revolution organization.

On Tuesday night at Splitsville Luxury Lanes in Patriot Place, the entire Revolution first team and Unified squad came out to bowl with fans, sign autographs, and celebrate inclusion. The event raised a record-breaking $145,690 for Special Olympics Massachusetts, bringing the Revolution Foundation’s all-time Bowl for a Goal fundraising total to $840,000.

“Bowl for a Goal is definitely a highlight for not only the Unified team, but for Special Olympics Massachusetts as a whole. It’s the only night that the entire Revolution first team is together to come support the community and we’re honored that’s in support for Special Olympics,” said Charles Hirsch, assistant vice president of development, brand and marketing at Special Olympics Massachusetts. “It’s a great opportunity to show the fans what inclusion looks like by announcing the Revs’ first team right alongside with the Unified team.”

The event came just weeks after the Revolution Unified team’s first match of the season, which took place after the first team game on July 22 at Gillette Stadium against Toronto FC’s Unified squad. The match amplified that message of inclusion, as New England saw its largest turnout for the Unified team to date. First team players and head coach Marko Mitrović stayed to support the Unified squad for the entirety of the hard-fought loss.

“I have to take my hat off to coach Mitrović because he is clearly leading by example. He was on the pitch the entire time. I think he was living and dying by every play and his willingness and desire to stay and show his support was felt by our team,” Hirsch continued.

At its core, Bowl for a Goal celebrates the power of inclusion, with the funds raised helping carry that message even further throughout the region. This year’s event also marked the first time the Revolution sold out every bowling lane, as fans rallied behind the club’s mission to show that every team within the organization is part of one big Revolution family.

For defender Ethan Kohler, who was experiencing the event for the first time, it was a great chance to honor the club’s Unified athletes.

“They represent the same crest that I do. So, I have no more contribution to this program than they do. They inspire me in the same way that maybe I inspire them. We’re all doing the same thing, going out there and playing the sport we love. So, I’m happy we get to create this sense of community with them,” he said.

Support for the Revolution Unified squad doesn’t end with Bowl for a Goal. The team will face Toronto’s Unified squad again on August 15, traveling alongside the first team to BMO Field for the rematch – this time with an added boost after spending the evening alongside first team athletes and signing autographs for fans.

“We lost the first one, but we have a strategy. We’re going to kick some butt,” declared Unified athlete Liam Wise.
