FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution goalkeeper Earl Edwards Jr. has been elected president of Black Players for Change (BPC), as the organization announced the election of key officials to its executive board on Wednesday.
"Being elected president by my peers is truly an honor," Edwards Jr. said in a statement. "Over the last couple years many of us have been dedicated to shifting the culture of our league with encouraging results. This election is another evolution of BPC; reaffirming that our organization was built to create long term, sustainable change. It's a privilege to be one of many leaders in our group as we continue to fight for a brighter future for Black players, and equality throughout our league and communities."
Edwards Jr., entering his second season with the Revolution after spending the first six years of his career with Orlando City SC (2015-18) and D.C. United (2019-20), is a co-founder of BPC.
Former Revolution defender Jalil Anibaba, also a co-founder of BPC and now with the Columbus Crew, has been elected treasurer.
