RECENT FORM VS. CHICAGO FIRE FC
Eight playoff meetings in a 10-year span between 2000 and 2009 formed a longstanding rivalry between the Revs and Fire, who have been doing battle since Chicago's inaugural season in 1998. The Revs have held the upper hand in recent years, going unbeaten in their last 12 league meetings with the Fire (4-0-8), including a 3-0-3 mark in their last six trips to Illinois. These sides did meet in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 this past May, Chicago claiming a 3-1 win against a heavily rotated Revolution squad.
New England (8-13-7, 31 pts.) were dominant for long stretches of this past weekend's showdown with Charlotte FC - outshooting the visitors, 20-9 - but a late goal led to a 2-1 loss as The Crown claimed an eighth straight victory. The loss leaves the Revs nine points back of the playoff places in the East and eight points back of the 10th-place Fire, though New England and Chicago will meet twice over the course of the final six games of the season.
Chicago (11-10-6, 39 pts.) were off this past weekend, aiming to recover from a 4-0 loss to the Philadelphia Union that snapped a five-game unbeaten run (3-0-2) on August 23. The Fire enter September just one point back of the final playoff spot in the East, but with two games in hand on the New York Red Bulls, who currently occupy the last spot. While Chicago boasts one of the league's best road records this season (7-6-1), they've struggled a bit at home, going just 4-4-5 on their own grounds.
The Revs will bounce back and forth between home and away games for the rest of the season, returning to Gillette Stadium to host Toronto FC next weekend.

Saturday night the Revs will be wearing the "Boston Tea Party" kit, which will serve as the club's primary uniform once again in 2025.
Inspired by Boston's proud history of positive defiance, the kit commemorates the recent 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party in December 1773. The shirt design is highlighted by red and white vertical waves on the jersey's front, which represent the ripples in the Boston Harbor made by East India Training Company's tea creates as the American revolutionaries emptied 45 tons of tea into the water.
The navy jersey features red shoulders with three white stripes, a throwback to earlier Revolution jerseys, paired with navy shorts and navy socks, featuring red and white striping on top.
