The Revs earned a hard-fought point against New York City FC last weekend to top off a three-game week. The result kept the Revs fourth in the Eastern Conference standings as they played their last game at home until September 19. Three points in Columbus could be an important boost for the Revs, who are looking to build off their previous 3-0 away win over D.C. United as they hit the road for the next four games.
Ranked eighth in the latest MLS Power Rankings, the Revs have an opportunity to make a statement during this four-game stretch, but continuing to improve their road form will be key. New England have earned just two road wins in 2026, compared with eight at home. Opening the stretch with three points in Columbus could continue to light the spark that the Revs found in D.C.

Columbus fell to New England when they travelled to Gillette Stadium in April, making it the second straight victory for the Revs in this series. When New England visited ScottsMiracle-Gro Field last season, they walked away with all three points. This season, Columbus have only won four of their 10 games at home as they prepare to welcome the Revolution.
The Crew have had a busy month, balancing time between MLS play and Leagues Cup action. They’ve played eight games since the start of August, exiting Leagues Cup on Wednesday night with a 2-0 quarterfinal loss against Club América. While the Crew failed to find the net, they did outshoot the Mexican side 18-14.
KEY PLAYERS
Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner
In the Revolution’s last match, Matt Turner made four saves against New York City to help preserve a point for New England. It was just one of many showstopping performances the goalkeeper has put on this season, as he is currently tied third for most saves in the league. Turner’s five clean sheets are also among the league’s best.
The Revolution are tied as the second-best defensive team in the East and are one of the strongest defensive sides in the league – partly thanks to Turner’s heroics in the net. As a leader both on and off the pitch, Turner will be a driving force as the Revs head into such a heavy road stretch.
Crew forward Josef Martínez
Last season, Josef Martínez led the San Jose Earthquakes in goals, netting 14 and logging two assists. Martínez was signed by the Crew as a free agent just over two weeks ago, appearing in the last three games for the club. While the attacker has yet to earn a spot in the starting lineup, he continues to build fitness and chemistry with his new team.
In his three appearances with Columbus, Martínez has played a total of 84 minutes. As he works his way into the squad, Martínez is expected to not only increase his time on the pitch, but also his impact. As a proven attacking threat, the Venezuelan could soon find a way on the scoresheet for Columbus.

Head coach Marko Mitrović on Sunday's opponent, the Columbus Crew:
"First, I think that Columbus is a team that has a really strong identity in the way that they play. They are a team that is very strong in possession, and they try to control and dominate the game with the ball. I think that Leagues Cup has actually put them in a very good spot in terms of having a different experience and a different level of opponent to keep growing as a team and getting exposed to some different things. Every league is unique and provides us with different challenges, and when you play against the teams in Leagues Cup, it's a very good experience in my eyes for all teams.”
Assistant coach Sean Hughes on what winger Jack Harrison has brought to the team in his first weeks with the Revolution:
"The first thing is his humility. It's funny, we talk a lot about people coming into an environment, and how they can really impact it in a good way. Jack [Harrison] has done that, not just obviously with his performance on the field, but with his energy to compete, his energy to train every day, and do additional [work]. He's a consummate professional from what we've seen so far. Simple things like fetching balls after training go a long way, and that's part of what we say as a group. It's the character as well as the player that's important to us, and obviously he's been a great addition so far."
Defender Will Sands on competing against his former club on Sunday:
“Most of my most competitive games come against my friends and I guess my family at this point. So, it's really awesome to see my old friends in Columbus do what they're doing, but it kind of adds a little bit of intensity to that game. We're all very competitive and I think these are the games you kind of live for as a player. It makes it different going on a road trip to a place where you know a lot of people, you know the fans. But I think it adds an edge to the game that I'm really looking forward to.”
