CURRENT FORM

New England Revolution
11th in Eastern Conference (8-14-7, 31 pts.)

Last Result | 3-2 loss at Chicago Fire FC

After their late fightback fell short last weekend in Chicago, the Revs are now 11 points shy of a playoff spot, as goals from Carles Gil and Peyton Miller ultimately weren’t enough to tilt the balance. That result means the Revs would officially be eliminated from playoff contention this weekend with a loss or draw, combined with a Chicago win over NYCFC.

The good news is the Revs should receive a boost ahead of the weekend with Mamadou Fofana and Leo Campana both returning from international duty after missing last weekend’s trip to the Windy City.

Toronto FC
13th in Eastern Conference (5-13-10, 25 pts.)

Last Result | 1-1 draw vs. CF Montréal

Officially, Toronto FC went unbeaten through the month of August – though they also failed to win a match, playing to four consecutive draws. Notably, two of those results came against top competition, securing 1-1 results against Eastern Conference leader Philadelphia and the Columbus Crew.

While Toronto have drawn 10 times this season, they have only managed to win five of their 28 games played, and could be eliminated from playoff contention by several different results this weekend. With the second-fewest goals scored in the East, Toronto has only managed to find the back of the net 28 times this season. On the flip side, they boast one of the best defensive records in the league with only 35 goals against.

KEY PLAYERS

Revolution midfielder Carles Gil
The Revolution know it’s now or never in their push for postseason action, and there has been no one more consistently reliable than Carles Gil. The midfielder leads the Revolution in both goals (10) and assists (11), including two goals and four assists in his last six appearances.

As the Revolution continue to fight through the last few matches of the season, Gil’s leadership as New England’s captain will be essential. Gil has influenced results for the Revolution all season long, and as they prepare to face Toronto FC, he’ll be key once again.

Toronto FC goalkeeper Sean Johnson
Goalkeeper Sean Johnson has played a major role in making Toronto FC not only one of the best defensive teams in the East, but in the league this season. While they have struggled to find wins, Johnson has consistently kept matches close, conceding just 34 goals in 2025.

So far, he’s recorded seven clean sheets, made 89 saves, and owns a 72.4 percent save rate. As New England aim to capitalize on their attacking chances, they’ll face a tough final line of defense in Johnson.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

Head coach Caleb Porter on the mindset heading into the final five games of the regular season:
“My mindset is simple – I’m going to keep moving this club forward. That means, in the short term win the next game at home. We have three home games left. For me those home games are very important, getting results in all three starting with Toronto. Leaving our fans with a good feeling, we haven’t done that this year enough. So that’s short term, win the next game. And then long term, keep building for the future with the players that are going to be here.”

Revolution midfielder Allan Oyirwoth on suiting up for his first MLS start this weekend:
“To me, as a kid, it’s really unbelievable. I’ve worked hard for it. I’ve been working in training. The 20 minutes they gave me in the last game [at Chicago], I really tried my best. I went and watched the [highlights] and I think I did my best and did really well. So, giving me the opportunity to start in a match, in a MLS game, that’s really something unbelievable to me and I appreciate it a lot. I think I have to work hard in that game, so I can continue getting more minutes.”
