MONTREAL (August 1, 2026) – The New England Revolution (9-5-3, 30 pts.) battled CF Montréal (4-10-4, 16 pts.) to a 2-2 draw on Saturday night at Stade Saputo. New England dictated the match’s tempo through the first 45 minutes, with Carles Gil and Dor Turgeman each scoring in the first half. Momentum shifted in favor of the home side after halftime, as Montréal rallied back with two tallies to level the match.
The Revolution's pressure kept Montréal pinned in their own end for the opening phase of the match, ultimately leading to the breakthrough 30 minutes into the game. Midfielder Alhassan Yusuf helped create the first opportunity when his shot attempt deflected off a Montréal defender's arm inside the penalty area. The referee pointed to the penalty spot and Gil, fresh off two assists in Wednesday's MLS All-Star Game, stepped up to the spot and lashed his finish into the upper-left corner, staking New England a 1-0 lead.
The Revolution doubled their lead six minutes later through Turgeman. Gil sparked the sequence, with a perfectly weighted ball into the stride of Peyton Miller, who slipped behind Montréal’s back line. The Homegrown Player timed his run perfectly and used the outside of his left foot to play a cross into Turgeman's path. The Israeli forward made no mistake, finishing with his right foot to give him his second goal in as many matches.
Gil nearly extended New England's lead to three before the break. The captain held possession outside Montréal’s 18-yard-box and unleashed a left‑footed effort that rattled off the post with five minutes remaining in the half. Between the posts, goalkeeper Matt Turner preserved New England’s lead with four first‑half saves. Montréal’s best look of the opening frame came in the 33rd minute, when Victor Loturi curled a shot toward the right-side netting, but Turner parried it away. The United States international ended the night with six saves.
Montréal came out of the intermission with renewed energy, pulling two goals back to equalize the match. Just over five minutes into the second half, Brayan Vera found himself with a look at goal from well outside the Revolution’s box. He struck his shot cleanly and sent a rocket into the upper corner past a diving Turner. In the 59th minute, Luca Petrasso whipped a ball into the box for Prince Owusu, who nodded the effort home from close range.
New England battled to reestablish its lead with two more quality chances by Turgeman in the 62nd and 68th minutes. The striker first forced a turnover from Montréal goalkeeper Sébastian Breza and attempted a chip from distance that drifted just wide of the post. Six minutes later, the striker slipped behind Montréal’s backline thanks to Gil's through ball. Turgeman took a clean touch toward goal and fired a shot on frame, but was denied by a kick save from Breza to keep the match level.
Unbeaten in three games since returning from the FIFA World Cup break, the Revolution come back home next weekend to welcome Western Conference foe Houston Dynamo FC to Gillette Stadium on Saturday, August 8.
