SANDY, Utah (Sept. 26, 2026) – The New England Revolution (14-9-4, 46 pts.) fell to Real Salt Lake (9-13-5, 32 pts.), 3-0, on Saturday night at America First Field. Despite outshooting the hosts, 14-9, Salt Lake's early strike in the second minute and two late insurance goals proved to be the difference.

The hosts jumped in front in just the second minute, when a scuffed clearance by Mamadou Fofana fell kindly to Aiden Hezarkhani on the doorstep, who powered his shot past Matt Turner from close range for the early breakthrough. The Revolution had a promising chance to equalize in the 28th minute, when Luca Langoni drove a shot on frame from the top of the 18‑yard-box, but Salt Lake goalkeeper Rafael Cabral denied the effort. Langoni, featuring in the Starting XI for the first time since May due to injury, recorded two shots and one key pass in his 58-minute shift.

Early in the second half, Turner produced a diving save on Sergi Solans’s effort to keep the deficit at one. Moments later, New England nearly pulled level as Ethan Kohler, playing in the midfield tonight, rattled the left post with a shot in the 52nd minute. Fellow U.S. youth international Josh Wynder slotted in the center back role, marking his first MLS career start, while striker Wilson Harris also earned his first Revolution start.

Salt Lake extended its lead in the 62nd minute through Solans, who atoned for his earlier missed opportunities with his second goal of the night. New England rebounded with a shot on target in the 65th minute as Wynder nodded a header on frame, but Cabral made a diving stop to keep the visitors off the board. Wynder, 21, recorded two shot attempts in his 68-minute performance.

Trailing by two, Revolution Head Coach Marko Mitrović turned to the bench again in the 68th minute to bring on Revolution Academy product Javaun Mussenden for his MLS debut. Cabral stayed sharp in net, denying a driven strike from midfielder Jackson Yueill in the 76th minute, before Salt Lake put the game out of reach with its third goal of the match in the 80th minute. Revolution captain Carles Gil led New England's chance creation with four key passes on the night, while Turner's three stops give him a new career high with 104 saves on the season.

New England is off next weekend before returning to action on Saturday, October 10, hosting Western Conference side Seattle Sounders FC at Gillette Stadium.
