FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy continued its fall season this weekend as two teams participated in theGeneration adidas Cup Regional Tournament in Philadelphia. The Under-17s and Under-15s each saw action at the Power Training Complex on Friday, Oct. 5 and Saturday, Oct. 6.
Four Academy teams will be in action this upcoming weekend as the U-17s and U-15s will continue the Generation adidas Cup Regional Tournament at home against NYCFC on Saturday, Oct. 13. Meanwhile, the U-14s and U-13s will host New York Soccer Club on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Medway High School in Medway, Mass.
WEEK HIGHLIGHTS
- Goalkeeper Eliot Jones (New Britain, Conn.—2003) made a collective four penalty saves in the U-17s’ two tests this past weekend. On Friday, Oct. 5, Jones made two saves on Atlanta United FC’s second and fourth penalty attempts in a 2-2 (4-3) victory. The following day, he made an additional two penalty saves on the Philadelphia Union’s first and third attempts in a 3-3 (6-5) loss after subbing on in the 78thminute.
- Forward Andrew Serafino (East Longmeadow, Mass.—2003) recorded a brace in the U-17s’ win over Atlanta United FC on Friday, Oct. 5. The striker also converted both of his penalty kick attempts in Friday and Saturday’s games.
- Midfielder Hikaru Fujiwara (Lexington, Mass.—2003) scored a free kick goal and tallied an assist in the U-17s’ 3-3 (6-5) loss against the Philadelphia Union on Saturday afternoon in Chester, Pa.
- Goalkeeper Matthew Tibbetts (Westborough, Mass.—2004) notched a shutout in the U-15s’ 1-0 win over Atlanta United FC on Friday, Oct. 5. Tibbetts recorded three saves in the victory.
- Midfielder T.J. Liquori (Westfield, Mass.—2004) scored a goal in the U-15s’ 1-0 win over Atlanta United FC on Friday. Liquori now has six goals for the Academy this season.
