FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Players Collaborative Fund has donated $20,000 to Boston Opportunity Agenda. This donation to the education-focused non-profit organization marks the latest grant from the coalition of Revolution players in support of grassroots organizations and community leaders engaged in the ongoing pursuit of social justice and equity.
Boston Opportunity Agenda was surprised with the grant during their on-field Hero of the Match recognition at Gillette Stadium on July 15 during the New England Revolution’s annual Match for C.H.A.N.G.E. BOA leaders Ayesha Cammaerts, Pratima Patil, and Fernanda Campbell were on hand to receive the donation from Players Collaborative Fund member and Revolution player Tommy McNamara.
“Boston Opportunity Agenda is an incredible organization with which the Revolution Players Collaborative Fund is proud to partner,” said Revolution goalkeeper Earl Edwards Jr, the President and Co-Founder of Black Players for Change. “Bringing equal opportunity to educational access is crucial to the transformation of our community and BOA’s mission of creating an equitable education system for all perfectly aligns with our group’s values.”
Boston Opportunity Agenda’s mission is to transform the Boston education landscape from cradle to career. Their focus is on removing the systemic barriers that create unacceptable outcomes and lack of opportunity for historically oppressed and economically disadvantaged populations and creating a just, equitable education system.
"This donation from the Players Collaborative Fund is a wonderful recognition of the importance of the Boston Opportunity Agenda’s mission to transform Boston's educational landscape from early education, through high school and college and into adulthood,” Ayesha Cammaerts, BOA’s Executive Director stated. “With a new school year right around the corner, this donation will help us strengthen our partnerships, advance our research and embolden our advocacy for educational access and equity for learners of all ages."
Each beneficiary of the Revolution Players Collaborative Fund, which is funded by the Kraft family, is selected by a coalition of Revolution players including several members of Black Players for Change, an independent organization consisting of over 170 Black players, coaches, and staff of MLS, working to bridge the racial equality gap that exists in society. Boston Opportunity Agenda joins previous beneficiaries Follow My Steps, the National Black Doll Museum of History & Culture, Get Girls Going, Resilient Sisterhood Project, Dress for Success Providence, Bottom Line Boston, Inner City Weightlifting, the Center for Health & Justice Transformation, New England Culinary Arts Training (NECAT), the Emerging Adult Court of Hope (EACH), The Theater Offensive, the North Shore Juneteenth Association, Breakthrough Greater Boston, Chica Project, and Women of Color Entrepreneurs.
