FOXBOROUGH, Mass. â New England Revolution defender Jon Bell was selected by St. Louis City SC in the third round of the 2022 MLS Expansion Draft on Friday evening. The Revolution will receive $50,000 in General Allocation Money as compensation for having a player selected in the Expansion Draft.
Bell, 25, was selected by the San Jose Earthquakes with the 38th overall selection in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft. The University of Maryland Baltimore County product signed with New England Revolution II in 2020, ahead of the clubâs inaugural season in USL League One. Bell signed a first-team contract with New England prior to the 2021 season, collecting 12 appearances, nine of them starts, one goal scored, and two assists, while helping the club collect its first-ever Supportersâ Shield title and a league-record 73 points. In 2022, the center back logged 15 appearances, including 10 starts, with one goal scored. Overall, Bell made 27 appearances, starting 19 of them, with two goals and two assists over his two seasons in a Revolution uniform.
