You were born on Christmas. How did that affect your birthday celebrations growing up?
It was cool because there was never any school on my birthday, so that was something that I always enjoyed as a little kid. I was also always with my family. I never really had a birthday party, though, which stunk. People always ask about presents … you just get cooler stuff.
You were a biomedical sciences major. What would be your dream job in the medical field?
I definitely want to be a doctor someday, when soccer is done and when I’ve played as much as I can. That’s something I’ve always wanted to do. It’s been my dream ever since I was a little kid. I’ve had a lot of opportunities since coming to the Revs to work in the labs at Boston Children’s Hospital. We do a lot of cancer research, so I feel like that is definitely something that I would want to be involved in. Maybe not so much the research, but definitely the medical and patient part of that.
Your professional debut occurred with the Revs in the 2010 season opening game against the LA. What was it like be playing on the same field as David Beckham?
It was pretty awesome, to say the least. I was really wide-eyed out there. I’ll never forget, we got done with warm-ups and Stevie Myles, who was the assistant coach at the time, he just looked at me and goes, ‘You could get used to this, huh?’ It was really cool being in the Home Depot Center, which is an amazing field. It was really cool.
Tell me something you would want your fans to know about you.
Fans should know about my sister, Tori. She’s a seven-time world jump rope champion. She has a documentary about her on Showtime, she’s been in the circus, and she has jump roped for Cirque Du Soleil. She’s a pretty big deal.
Who would you say you look up to as your role model, either in or outside the soccer world?
I look up to my dad. He is easily the most influential person in my life. He played soccer in college, and he’s done a lot of stuff in the medical field that has really inspired me to do what I want to do with my life. I pretty much just try to model myself after him.
