Welcome to the Playoffs, Junior Revs!
I hope you are as excited as I am for the start of the Audi 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs! After beating Philadelphia Union in our final match of the regular season, we finished fifth in the Eastern Conference. We celebrated Fan Appreciation and Noche Latina during the win as well!
Our next home match might be the most important match of the season. We play against Philadelphia Union, again, in the second leg of the first round on Nov. 8. If the Revs win two out of three matches against the Union, the next opponent would be either Orlando City SC or Nashville SC in a knockout match of the Conference Semifinals!
September was especially busy for some of our players as they were called up to their National Teams. DeJuan Jones was once again called up to the U.S. Men’s National Team, while Christian Makoun played in Venezuela’s World Cup Qualifiers! We are so proud of DeJuan and Christian for proving their talent on the world stage! On the youth side, Noel Buck, Esmir Bajraktarevic, and Jack Panayotou were all called up for different international tournaments! Noel joined the England U-19 National Team, Esmir joined the Men’s Olympic National Team, and Jack played in the Pan American Games for the United States. We are so happy to see these young players being recognized for their abilities. Jacob Jackson made his MLS debut in October, too! The future looks bright for our youngest players!
Last month also brought in a couple of key roster decisions. Defender, Henry Kessler received a contract extension through 2025 with an option for 2026. The Revs also signed Homegrown Player Malcolm Fry, a forward from Groton, MA, to join the first team next season! Congrats, Malcolm!
