For the second week in a row, Matt Turner has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi after his match-defining performance in net against the Philadelphia Union on Saturday night. The Revs snapped the Union’s 15-game unbeaten streak with a 2-1 victory at Subaru Park, holding onto the win after 106 minutes of play with the help of Turner’s diving heroics.
Turner made six saves on the night, adding to his career-high 126 saves. With six clean sheets and just 42 goals conceded through 31 games, turner has consistently been one of the league’s best goalkeepers this season.
Any of Turner’s six saves might have earned him a place in this week’s best XI, but one stoppage time stop stood above the rest. Sixteen minutes beyond the 90-minute mark, the Revs were clinging to a 2-1 lead as Philadelphia pressed for an equalizer.
Agustín Anello appeared poised to level the match as he fired a shot on frame from the top of the box. As Revolution fans held their breath, Turner reminded them that there was no reason to worry, as he soared to tip the ball over the crossbar and preserve the three points.
“He is quite literally our last line of defense. For the backline, knowing that if they do get a shot off or a chance, there is still a very, very high chance that that’s not going in. That gives us confidence to defend on the front foot and to defend fully knowing that he has our backs,” defender Ethan Kohler said of Turner’s performance. “And he obviously has this incredible amount of experience that gives comfort to everyone in front of him, so he’s been extremely vital this season and continues to be.”
Dor Turgeman celebrated his 23rd birthday on Saturday by opening the scoring for New England with help from Peyton Miller and Carles Gil moments before the half. Gil continued to influence the night, doubling the Revolution’s lead in the 91st minute with a goal from the penalty spot, after drawing a foul in the box. With two goal contributions added to his team-leading 25, Gil earned a spot on the Team of the Matchday bench.

The Revs are back at Gillette Stadium to host the final two home matches of the regular season. The double game week kicks off on Wednesday night against Red Bull New York at 7:30 p.m. ET before New England welcomes Inter Miami CF on Sunday.
