New England Revolution captain Carles Gil is one of Major League Soccer's elite chance creators, but it was his teammate Brandon Bye who took on playmaking duties in Saturday night's 3-2 win over FC Cincinnati. The Revolution right back registered the primary assist on all three of New England's goals, marking the first three-assist game of his career and bringing his season totals up to two goals and four assists.

Bye's first two helpers were right-wing crosses that set up spectacular finishes. In the 17th minute Bye collected a half-clearance and whipped in service for Sebastian Lletget to stun the TQL Stadium crowd with a flying scissor kick. Then, on the stroke of halftime, Bye got to the end line and cut back for Adam Buksa, who used a clever backheel to stretch his goal-scoring streak to seven games in all competitions.

The final assist came in the game's dying stages, as Bye laid off a pass for Tommy McNamara to fire home the winner from the corner of the penalty area. McNamara, who was praised by head coach Bruce Arena for his defensive work in limiting Cincinnati playmaker Luciano Acosta, was named to the MLS Team of the Week bench.

Bye's four assists are already a career high, while his two goals match the high previously set in 2021 and 2019, despite being just 12 games into the 34-game regular season slate.
