CURRENT FORM
New England Revolution
4th in Eastern Conference (5-3-1, 16 pts.)
Last Result (MLS) | 1-1 draw at Inter Miami CF
Last Result (U.S. Open Cup) | 1(3)-1(1) win vs. Rhode Island FC
New England host Orlando City SC on the heels of a 1-1 draw at Inter Miami CF, which brought the Revs to five games unbeaten in regular season play. The Revs soared to fourth in the Eastern Conference following four straight wins. Although the Revolution won’t be hosting Orlando at Gillette Stadium, New England have built a perfect home record so far this season (4-0-0) and will look to build on that as hosts on Wednesday night.
In regular season play, New England have scored 17 goals through nine games while conceding just 12. In their last U.S. Open Cup contest, the Revolution faced off with USL Championship side Rhode Island FC, finishing the match 1-1 after extra time. New England found victory to move on to the Round of 16 after defeating RIFC in a penalty shootout, 3-1, largely thanks to goalkeeper Donovan Parisian, who made three saves to deny RIFC from the spot.
Orlando City SC
14th in Eastern Conference (2-7-1, 7 pts.)
Last Result (MLS) | 3-2 loss at D.C. United
Last Result (U.S. Open Cup) | 1-0 win at FC Naples
While Orlando fell to D.C. United in their last regular season outing, they are coming off a two-game week that saw them secure their second win of the season in a 4-1 victory over Charlotte FC. With six goals scored over their last two games, the Lions seem to be finding a bit more rhythm on the attack, as they had only scored six goals all season prior to last week.
In the U.S. Open Cup, Orlando faced USL League One side FC Naples for the first time, breaking through early and holding on for a 1–0 win in the Round of 32. Like New England, the Lions opted for a heavily rotated lineup in that match, spreading minutes across the squad. With both teams managing congested schedules, Wednesday night could offer another opportunity to give a wider group of players some action.
KEY PLAYERS
Revolution winger Luca Langoni
Luca Langoni has been on fire for the Revolution this season, leading the team in goal contributions with one goal and six assists. The Argentine attacker has appeared in all nine regular season games for the Revs, earning seven starts.
In the U.S. Open Cup Round of 32, Langoni logged 40 minutes off the bench for New England, and after playing just 45 minutes in the weekend trip to Inter Miami CF, he enters Wednesday night with plenty left in the tank. As the Revolution push through a demanding stretch and aim to advance in the Open Cup, Langoni could continue to influence the Revolution attack, just as he has all season.
Orlando forward Tyrese Spicer
Tyrese Spicer made the difference for Orlando City SC in their last U.S. Open Cup match, scoring the lone goal of the game to earn the Lions the victory over FC Naples. Spicer had four shots on the night, proving to be a key player in Orlando’s attack.
In regular season play, Spicer has scored once this season across 225 minutes of play. His goal against FC Naples brought his tally to three goals across all competitions since joining the Lions in 2025. Across eight regular season appearances last season, Spicer had one goal and two assists.
HEAR FROM THE TEAM
Assistant coach Blair Gavin on opening another two-game week with the match against Orlando City SC on Wednesday:
"We have another opportunity in the U.S. Open Cup. I think it's a great tournament. We're always going to try and progress and improve, and it's another opportunity to do that. We're excited for the opportunity to compete for a cup and then obviously to continue our form in MLS play."
Gavin on Open Cup matches as a way for players to push for more minutes moving forward:
"We saw a lot of guys in the previous Open Cup game that got some good minutes that we're hoping to progress further. We're also leaning on experienced guys too as well, to understand what these games mean, how they're played, and how difficult they are to help establish that. So, we'll have a good mix of the team and we're looking forward to a whole collective club performance."
Defender Ethan Kohler on the vibes within the locker room as New England is unbeaten in six matches, including MLS and U.S. Open Cup:
“It's always a good vibe when you're winning games and you're playing well, but you can tell that guys are continuously hungry for more. So, it's a positive vibe, but you see guys are still really getting after it, which is amazing.”
