FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (August 14, 2026) – The New England Revolution have loaned midfielder Eric Klein to USL Championship side Rhode Island FC for the remainder of the 2026 USL Championship season.
Klein signed with New England in May 2025, becoming the 15th Homegrown Player in Revolution club history. The 19-year-old midfielder owns seven Major League Soccer appearances over the last two seasons, including five games played during the 2026 campaign. Klein has also suited up for four additional appearances in Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup play, logging a two-assist performance in this year's Round of 16 on April 29 against Orlando City SC.Â
With New England's developmental team, Klein has recorded 48 appearances, 44 of them starts, across four seasons in MLS NEXT Pro from 2023-2026. Klein has netted one goal with six assists in over 4,000 career minutes played with Revolution II. Prior to making his professional debut with Revolution II in 2023, Klein developed through the Revolution Academy and was named the club's 2023-2024 Academy Player of the Year.
On the international stage, Klein has earned two appearances with the United States Under-20 National Team in friendly matches. The Pennsylvania native played all 90 minutes in a 2-0 victory over Macedonia this June, and logged an additional appearance as a substitute last November against Costa Rica.
The Revolution continue their 2026 campaign with a trip north of the border to visit Toronto FC on Saturday, August 15. The 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff at BMO Field will be available on Apple TV in both English and Spanish. Fans can also listen to the club's radio broadcasts on 98.5 The Sports Hub (WBZ-FM) and 1260 AM Nossa Radio USA (Portuguese).
