WHAT TO WATCH FOR AT RHODE ISLAND FC
TEAM NOTES
- New England travels to face Rhode Island FC for the first meeting between the two sides, whose stadiums are located 20 miles apart down I-95.
- Head Coach Caleb Porter has deployed an entirely new lineup with 11 new starters from the team's last league match on Saturday at Toronto FC.
- The Revolution, 2007 U.S. Open Cup champions, will play their 48th match in the tournament, looking to improve on their 23-19-5 all-time record in the domestic cup competition.
- New England owns a 10-4-3 mark all-time against USL opposition, including a 3-1-2 mark on the road.
- The Revolution have played in Rhode Island on two previous occasions, winning a pair of U.S. Open Cup matches as the home team in 2014 (at Brown University) and 2017 (at Providence College).
- For the first time in club history, New England has collected three straight road shutout victories in MLS play. The Revolution have won four straight games, all clean sheets, and have not conceded in the last 385 minutes of MLS play.

- F Maxi Urruti owns 11 career appearances in the U.S. Open Cup, including eight starts, and has scored five goals.
- Urruti is a one-time winner of the Open Cup, leading FC Dallas to the tournament title in 2016 with a brace in the U.S. Open Cup Final against New England.
- Urruti has started four of his eight MLS appearances this year, and is one of 11 active MLS players with over 300 career regular season appearances.

ALEX BONO | GOALKEEPER #24
- GK Alex Bono will make his club debut with the Revolution, having dressed as the backup goalkeeper for each of the first 10 league matches to begin the 2025 campaign.
- Bono, a four-time Canadian Championship winner with Toronto FC, has made two previous appearances in the U.S. Open Cup.
- In his MLS career, Bono has made 169 appearances and won a domestic treble with Toronto in 2017.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- D Andrew Farrell makes his 2025 season debut tonight and moves into a tie with Scott Caldwell (16) for the second-most U.S. Open Cup appearances in Revolution history. The former #1-overall pick is the only Revolution player to see action in 13 different seasons for the club.
- F/W Luca Langoni and Tomás Chancalay each make their U.S. Open Cup debut. For Chancalay, it marks his first start since a 2024 knee injury, though he has appeared in the last four MLS games as a substitute.
- M Jackson Yueill earns his 12th appearance in U.S. Open Cup play, his first with New England. He reached the 2017 U.S. Open Cup Semifinals while with San Jose.
- F/W Luis Diaz earns his first Revolution start, also his U.S. Open Cup debut, after appearing in six MLS matches off the bench.
- M Allan Oyirwoth, an 18-year-old with Uganda National Team experience, makes his first team debut tonight. He has scored one goal in five starts for Revolution II in the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season.
- Homegrown D Damario McIntosh makes his first matchday roster with the first team, having started in five of the first six MLS NEXT Pro matches with Revolution II this season.
- D Keegan Hughes makes his first Revolution start and second appearance overall since ascending to the first team earlier this year.
- Four Revolution II players will be available tonight off the bench for New England: midfielders Gevork Diarbian, Eric Klein, and Cristiano Oliveira and forward Liam Butts.
- Butts (#48) is fourth in MLS NEXT Pro with five goals in six matches this season, earning him a first international call-up from Guyana.
- Diarbian (#45), a Cranston, R.I. native, is a Revolution Academy graduate and finished a four-year career at Providence College in the fall.
- Klein (#38) dresses for the second time this season after making the matchday squad in the MLS season opener at Nashville SC on Feb. 22. Klein could become the second second-generation Revolution player after his father, Steve, made five appearances for New England in 1997.
- Oliveira (#35) spent part of preseason with the Revolution first team, and recently scored his first professional goal on April 23 in MLS NEXT Pro action with Revs II.
NEW ENGLAND - RHODE ISLAND FC CONNECTIONS
- Rhode Island FC Head Coach Khano Smith played for New England from 2005-08 and 2010, helping the Revolution win three straight Eastern Conference titles as well as the 2007 U.S. Open Cup crown.
- Rhode Island Co-Founder Michael Parkhurst played 15 professional seasons, beginning his career with the Revolution from 2005-08.
- RIFC Goalkeeping Coach Karl Spratt was a coach and Director of Goalkeeping for the Revolution Academy from 2009-21.
- Rhode Island FC defenders Cole Dewhurst and Dani Rovira, along with midfielders Kevin Vang, Isaac Angking, Zachary Herivaux, and Joe Brito are all graduates of the Revolution Academy.
- Angking and Herivaux were both signed by New England as Homegrown Players. Angking made three MLS appearances along with eight matches for Revolution II in 2020, while Herivaux logged 10 appearances for the club from 2015-19.
- Dewhurst made his professional debut in April 2021 with Revolution II in USL League One before four years at Providence College.
- Rovira played college soccer for Dean College in Franklin, Mass. before transferring to the University of Vermont.
- Revolution midfielder Carles Gil and Rhode Island goalkeeper Koke Vegas both spent time at Deportivo La Coruña in 2019.
- RIFC midfielder Amos Shapiro-Thompson spent three years in the Revolution Academy before joining the Dinamo Zagreb youth ranks. The midfielder also played four seasons at Boston College.
- Rhode Island defender Aldair Sanchez was in the Portland Timbers Academy during Revolution coach Caleb Porter's tenure with the club.
- Porter, Revolution assistant coach Pablo Moreira, and Rhode Island forward J. Williams crossed paths in 2019 with the Columbus Crew.
- Revolution defender Will Sands and RIFC defender Rio Hope-Gund were teammates at Georgetown University from 2019-21, winning the 2019 NCAA College Cup.
- Revolution forward Maxi Urruti and RIFC defender Karifa Yao were teammates at CF Montreal from 2019-20.
