The New England Revolution have continued to prove themselves to be fierce competitors at home this season, after another shutout win at Gillette Stadium has made them three-for-three in Foxborough. This past Saturday’s 1-0 result over D.C. United was the second consecutive clean sheet for the Revs, who edged their way to victory with the help of midfielder Alhassan Yusuf. With the lone goal of the match, Yusuf has earned a spot on the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi for Matchday 7.
“Yusuf was amazing today in my opinion,” said assistant coach Michael Morris following Saturday night’s win. “Yusuf is a fantastic guy, and every single moment that I've been able to work with him, I’ve come to appreciate him that much more day in and day out. He has definitely put himself in a position where he's very integral to what we want to do in terms of in possession, out of possession, and in the multiple positions that he's been able to adapt to and play in so far.”
With his goal in the 35th minute of the match, Yusuf now leads the scoring for the Revolution alongside defenders Peyton Miller and Brayan Ceballos, all with two goals each. Assisted by striker Dor Turgeman and left back Will Sands, Yusuf said he expected to make more attacking contributions this season for the Revs.
“I was in kind of a more defensive role before. But then, of course, the role that I'm playing now, I have to be in the box and then finish the attack. So yeah, I'm not surprised by the goals that I’ve scored,” he explained.
Yusuf has been a key element of the Revolution midfield since joining New England in August of 2024. He found the first goal of his MLS career last season, finishing the year with two goals and two assists on his tally. Now, under the leadership of head coach Marko Mitrović, it seems Yusuf has a new attacking fire under his belt – matching his previous goal count already in just six games.
Yusuf isn’t the only one feeling the Revolution’s newfound attacking spark. With 12 goals so far this season, New England are amongst the highest scoring teams in the league. The Revs will look to sustain their attacking prowess while they approach a busy stretch to close out April. With at least four games remaining this month between regular season and U.S. Open Cup play, the next few weeks will be a true test for the Revolution.

The Revs will face USL Championship side Rhode Island FC on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. ET at Centerville Bank Stadium in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32. Just over 20 miles south of Gillette Stadium, Tuesday’s match will be an exciting regional duel as the Revs attempt a run toward Open Cup success.
