Tomás Chancalay has wasted little time endearing himself to the New England Revolution faithful, scoring a pair of goals in just his second start (and third appearance) with the club to help the Revs to a 2-2 draw with Austin FC this past weekend at Gillette Stadium. The 24-year-old winger scored his first two MLS goals either side of halftime, earning himself a spot on the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi.
Chancalay's first goal provided an immediate response to Austin's opener, as the Argentine pulled the Revs level just one minute after the visitors had taken the lead. Carles Gil and Ian Harkes orchestrated the goal as Harkes played a dangerous ball across the box from the right wing, ultimately finding Chancalay for a cool finish in the 28th minute.
Displaying his versatility, Chancalay bagged his second just 100 seconds after the break when he rose at the back post to head home Nacho Gil's cross from a short corner. With the brace, Chancalay became the first Revolution player to record a multi-goal game within his first three appearances for the club since Carles Gil in 2019.
After taking four points from a two-game homestand, Chancalay and the Revs will now head on the road for three straight, beginning with Saturday night's first-ever visit to Allianz Field for a showdown with Minnesota United FC. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET with coverage in English and Spanish on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, while the local radio call will be available on both 98.5 The Sports Hub (English) and 1260 AM Nossa Radio (Portuguese).
