CURRENT FORM

New England Revolution
4th in Eastern Conference (8-5-1, 25 pts.)
Last Result | 1-0 loss at Charlotte FC

The Revs will hit the pitch on Wednesday night for their first competitive action in two months, facing Toronto FC for the first time this season. While the Revs left for their break on the tail of a loss in Charlotte, they return to Gillette Stadium after a record-breaking home start to the 2026 season. With a 7-1-0 record in Foxborough so far, the Revs went a perfect 6-0-0 to start their home campaign, establishing the club’s best-ever home start.

With five weeks of training, the break gave the Revs a chance to improve upon their performances through the first half of the season. New England have stood out defensively, conceding only 18 goals and sporting the third-best defensive record in the East before the break. On the attack, their 22 goals scored is better than this time last season, but they’ll look to add to their tally against Toronto.

Toronto FC
12th in Eastern Conference (3-6-6, 15 pts.)

Last Result | 0-0 draw at CF Montréal

Toronto returned from the World Cup break last week to face off with Canadian rivals CF Montréal, battling to a 0-0 draw. It was only the fourth point Toronto has earned on the road this season, with a 1-4-1 record away from BMO Field. While Toronto was able to keep a clean sheet, they were outshot by their opponents 15-7.

Last season, New England had the upper hand against Toronto FC, taking four points from their two meetings. The Revs won 2-0 on the road against the Canadian side, but drew 1-1 in front of the home crowd in Foxborough. While Toronto has already had the chance to play 90 minutes following the break, the Revs will aim to shake off the rust and take all three points at home in this year’s matchup.

KEY PLAYERS

Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner
Ahead of the break, it wasn’t confirmed where Matt Turner would be playing following his time representing the United States in the FIFA World Cup. His loan with the Revolution was set to expire at the end of June, but Turner is staying in New England. With his loan from French club Olympique Lyonnais extended through at least the end of the season, Turner can continue to build on the momentum he’s built with the Revs this year.

Turner returns to MLS play after nearly two months spent training with the country’s best and competing on the world’s biggest stage. Before the break, Turner logged 61 saves and helped the Revs keep one of the best defensive records in the league with just 18 goals conceded in 14 games. Back with the club, Turner can be even more focused on regular season play and continue to prove why he earned the call up for the U.S.

Toronto forward Josh Sargent
A Missouri native, Josh Sargent never played in MLS prior to joining Toronto FC from EFL Championship side Norwich City FC. Since playing with the Canadian team, Sargent has scored three goals and logged one assist in just nine games with Toronto. Despite making just nine appearances so far this season, Sargent is the team’s second-highest scoring player, proving how powerful his attacking presence can be.

Through 646 minutes played, the forward has put 10 shots on target and owns the team’s largest xG, with a total of 4.28. Of his three goals, two have come in his last four games. As the Revolution look to continue their strong home form, Sargent could be a key threat from Toronto’s attack.

HEAR FROM THE TEAM

Head coach Marko Mitrović on the excitement to resume MLS action on Wednesday night against Toronto FC:
"I can feel that the team is ready to go. It was eight weeks off, but really five because we played a few friendly games. I think the guys are very ready to go. I think this break was great, because on one side, it's good for them to recover. Also, in the past five weeks, I think we used the break in a very good way to keep going, to keep improving, to keep getting better, and to prepare for what's coming."

Mitrović on what he expects from Toronto FC:
“Toronto is a team that has so many good players. I actually think they have a very good roster, and they are a team that can expose that talent on the field at any given moment. They have already had one [MLS] game since the break against CF Montreal, which in these moments can be a great benefit for those teams, because they are already in that competitive mindset. However, I think that we're going to be ready for that as well."

Goalkeeper Matt Turner on returning to training with the Revolution following the World Cup:
“It’s great to be back. Obviously, the boys have been hard at work over the last couple of months. I think it has been two months since I’ve been back. So, it’s great to be here, great to be back home and have some stability in my life, and to be able to use it as a platform for the future and whatever is to come. But right now, my focus will be solely on keeping this team where we are in the standings and higher and ultimately pushing to make the playoffs. Off the back of the excitement of the World Cup in the area, continue to make new fans and new memories for people that want to support this great team.”
