CURRENT FORM

New England Revolution
10th in Eastern Conference (4-4-1, 13 pts.)

Last Result | 1-0 win at Charlotte FC

The Revolution have continued to turn their season around after a slow start to 2025, securing three straight shutout wins. Most recently, the Revs topped conference-leading Charlotte FC, ending The Crown’s eight-game home winning streak and elevating themselves to 10th in the Eastern Conference table.

While New England remains on the hunt for more goals, strong defensive performances have allowed them to control matches – conceding only seven times through nine games. Saturday’s match could be record-setting for the Revs, as a fourth straight shutout would solidify their spot for best defensive start in club history through 10 games. With a recent shift in formation, the Revolution have lined up with three central defenders – a change in tactics which has resulted in an increase of chances and unity on the pitch.

Toronto FC
14th in Eastern Conference (1-5-4, 7 pts.)

Last Result | 1-0 loss vs. New York City FC

Toronto has sat near the bottom of the Eastern Conference table for most of the season, and although they haven’t found many wins, they’ve managed to remain a contender in almost every match they’ve played, often keeping games at a single goal difference.

Similar to New England, Toronto has been in good defensive form, allowing only two goals in their last five league games. Their backline has been buoyed by goalkeeper Sean Johnson, who has made 33 saves so far this season. As the Revolution continue to search for more goals and aim to climb the standings, they will have to break down a resolute Toronto defense.

KEY PLAYERS

Revolution defender Peyton Miller
After making 10 appearances last year, 17-year-old Peyton Miller has started each of the Revolution’s last five games as they’ve gone 4-1-0. In last week’s win over Charlotte, Miller had one of his most active performances yet, putting two shots on target and making some key runs in the attacking buildup.

Recently starting as a left wingback in the 3-4-1-2 formation, the shift in tactics has allowed Miller the opportunity to be more involved in the attack. With the ability to get in behind defenders and stretch opponents, Miller is a growing threat for New England as he settles into the new formation and continues to gain experience in the starting XI.

Toronto forward Federico Bernardeschi
Federico Bernardeschi has played a key role in Toronto’s attack this season, registering 27 shots in total, 12 of which have been on target. The Italian attacker consistently puts himself in dangerous positions, totaling two goals and two assists on the year.

Often deployed on the wing, Bernardeschi has been a consistent presence in the final third, using his pace and technical ability to create space and opportunities. As the Revolution attempt to maintain their defensive record, Bernardeschi will be a threat to contain.

HEAR FROM THE REVS

Head coach Caleb Porter on continuing to deploy the three-man backline system after experiencing success:
“We’ll see. It just depends on how it continues to look. Obviously, we’ll evaluate the opponent as well tactically. We felt like it was the right thing to do to change it, and we’ve felt like it was the right thing to do to stick with it. We can always throw another wrinkle in, which is good because this team is very well-oiled in a 4-2-3-1, as well. So, we will continue to do what we think is best for the team, evaluate the game and the opponent, and make a decision.”

Porter on the match against Toronto:
“It’s going to be a big challenge. Sometimes you play a team that is really desperate to win, and that’s the toughest opponent to play. They are going to want to get their first win at home. We feel like when we played Charlotte, they were a team that maybe was going to be a little complacent. You’re not going to get that with Toronto. They are fighting for their lives. So are we, frankly. We’re in 10th [place], and I told the guys today we have to keep moving up. To do that, we need to be focused and hungry. If we’re focused and hungry, then we’ll have a chance to win the game. If we’re not, then we have no chance of winning this game.”

Goalkeeper Aljaž Ivačič on not being complacent after successful results:
Yes, we won the last three games and had three clean sheets, but we are still not where we want to be. I know we are still in 10th place [in the Eastern Conference], so we are not in the playoff zone or higher in the table, and that’s where we want to be. To achieve that, we need to win the next one and the next one, and that’s the mentality we need to have.”
